Privacy Policy

Effective October 17, 2026

The short version: your financial records are stored on your device, without an app account or automatic financial-data sync to us. Website requests, app updates and optional exchange-rate refreshes use network services. If you export files, share them, or email support, you control what you send and where it goes.

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to the Mazhak Money iOS application and the Mazhak Money web application (together, “the app”).

App records and tracking

The app requires no account, sign-up, email address or password. We do not include advertising trackers or analytics or crash-reporting services in the app. Your accounts, transactions, budgets and other financial records are not automatically uploaded to us.

Where your data is stored

Everything you record — accounts, transactions, budgets, goals, cards, investments and settings — is written only to local storage on your own device:

  • iOS: a database file inside the app’s private container on your iPhone, protected by iOS app sandboxing and your device security settings.
  • Web: your browser’s own local storage for the site, on the computer you are using. It is not uploaded anywhere.

Because we hold no copy, we cannot recover your data for you if you delete the app, clear your browser storage, or lose the device. Export JSON backups regularly and keep them somewhere you trust. Backups contain the exporting platform’s supported database records; not every record or setting transfers between platforms. Device or cloud backups you enable through your operating system are governed by that provider’s settings and policies.

Network connections the app makes

These requests do not include your financial database. Network providers can receive technical information such as IP address, request time, browser or device information, and requested URLs. Their handling and retention of that information depend on their own policies and service settings.

  • Website and help pages. Opening the website or an in-app privacy/support link contacts our website hosting infrastructure to load pages and app resources.
  • App updates (iOS). The iOS app uses Expo’s update service to check for and download program updates. Requests include app version/runtime and update-channel information. They do not include your accounts or transactions.
  • Exchange-rate refresh. When you choose to refresh rates in Settings, iPhone contacts exchangerate-api.com directly; the web app requests rates through our website’s rate endpoint. These requests ask for USD-based exchange rates and do not send your balances, transactions or currency holdings.
  • External links. Opening a credit-card issuer or another external site contacts that provider, whose privacy policy applies. We currently do not use referral identifiers on these links or earn commissions from them. We do not attach your financial records to those links.

Importing statements and files

When you import a PDF or CSV statement, the file is parsed entirely on your device. It is not uploaded to us or to any parsing service.

Exports and sharing you choose

JSON exports contain sensitive financial records and are not password-protected by the app. On iPhone, you choose a destination through the system share sheet; on the web, your browser downloads the file. Saving to a cloud drive or sending it to someone transfers the copy to that destination. Its privacy and security practices apply. We do not automatically receive an exported backup.

Support messages

If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. Our support inbox uses Gmail, so Google also processes those messages. We use correspondence to respond to support messages. Please do not send financial backup files or unredacted statements. Contact us if you want us to delete correspondence we hold; this does not delete copies held by you or other recipients.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has sent personal information to our support inbox, contact us so we can address it.

Access, correction and deletion

View and edit your financial records in the app, or export a JSON copy. On the web, use Settings → Data & Privacy → Clear all data to erase the app’s database. On iPhone, deleting the app removes its local container. Exported files, copies shared with others and operating-system backups must be managed separately; deleting local app data does not delete those copies. Contact us about information you have sent to support.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially — for example if an optional cloud backup feature is ever added — we will update this page and its effective date, and any such feature will be opt-in.
